Nathan Bates, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Nathan Bates, MD, FACS joined the Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgical Associates, PA in Jacksonville, Florida in January, 2008 after completing his Cardiothoracic Surgery training at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School in December, 2007. Dr. Bates started a new Cardiothoracic Surgery Program at Orange Park Medical Center, Orange Park, Florida in December of 2010 and built it into a 3 star STS rated program, the highest rating possible based on patient outcomes. Dr. Bates pioneered robotic cardiothoracic surgery in NE Florida. He was the first to perform a robotic lobectomy for lung cancer in 2011 and did the first robotic mitral valve repair surgery in 2014. He is committed to providing minimally invasive cardiac, thoracic and vascular procedures to patients in NE Florida and surrounding regions. Dr. Bates is also trained in TAVR procedures as well as the mitraclip procedure and endovascular repair of aortic aneurysms.
